Yale Model United Nations

SINGAPORE

March 12-14, 2027

Dear esteemed delegates and advisors,

My name is Alwis, and it is my honor and pleasure to invite you to the fourth edition of Yale Model United Nations Singapore, taking place from March 12 - 14, 2027. YMUNS IV marks a pivotal point for Yale’s only Model UN conference in Southeast Asia, as we set our sights towards bringing the conference to even greater heights after a successive string of successes since our inaugural iteration in 2024.

YMUN Singapore has always created a space for meaningful, impactful debate that brings together some of the brightest minds from around the region. The topics discussed are diverse, ranging from regional to global and covering a broad range of issues. Delegates are called upon to step into the perspectives of world leaders and apply their best research, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills. Their critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills are put to the test as they work together to find solutions to today’s complex issues. YMUN Singapore has always offered committees at all levels, tailored both to newcomers to Model UN, and to the most experienced delegates. We continue to commit to ensuring an enriching committee experience for all.

To this end, a key focus for this pivotal fourth run is to encourage increased first-timer participation, particularly from local public high schools in Singapore. We are also focused on establishing longer term sustainable partnerships with local government agencies, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations.

YMUN Singapore is proud to continue to offer more than just a simple Model UN conference. We seek to provide a holistic educational experience for our delegates through speaker engagements, panel discussions, and workshops featuring diplomats, politicians, and NGOs. By creating opportunities for delegates to connect their in-committee experience with the real world, we cultivate their awareness of pertinent issues facing the region, and encourage them to become engaged global citizens – empowering all delegates to lead social change in their respective communities. Popular highlights will return this year – including our delegate dance – to encourage students to interact and unwind with a globally spread delegate community, cultivating friendships that we are confident will go beyond the committee rooms and last beyond the conference.

As the conference approaches, we will be offering resource support to ensure that all delegates will have access to the information they need to prepare for three days of intellectual debate. Topic guides will be provided that structure and contextualize the issues that delegates will be discussing. We will offer multiple online training sessions for delegates at different levels, office hours where delegates can connect one-on-one with the Yale students who are serving as their chairs and running their committees, and a delegate preparation guide that details parliamentary procedure for delegates to reference. It is our hope that delegates from all backgrounds feel welcomed, included and empowered to share their unique perspectives at YMUNS.

Do keep an eye out for more conference updates over the coming months as our team works to curate the best possible conference experience. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at secgen@ymuns.org. Thank you so much for your interest and continued support of Yale Model United Nations Singapore, and we are looking forward to meeting you in March!
