Meet the Team

  • Way Lee

    Secretary General

    Way is a sophomore in Ezra Stiles College majoring in Computer Science and Economics. He’s originally from Singapore, but lived in China for nine years and Thailand for three years. Outside of YMUNS, he also competes for Yale’s Model United Nations Team, is a member of Global Strategic Consulting and the Yale Undergraduate Consulting Group, and was on the secretariat of YMUN Taiwan and YMUN Korea. In his free time, he enjoys learning to cook new dishes, running outdoors, and singing karaoke. He is incredibly excited to organize YMUN Singapore for the first time at home, and looks forward to getting to meet all the delegates in March.   • Mike Zhang

    Director General of Operations

    Mike Zhang is a sophomore at Yale College majoring in Global Affairs and Economics + Mathematics. Ecstatic about serving as the Director-General for the inaugural YMUNS conference, his interests in international relations lie at the intersection of international trade, the global economy, and international security. On campus, he is involved with the Yale Foreign Policy Initiative (YFPI), the Model UN Team at Yale (MUNTY), and Camp Kesem at Yale. When he's not busy, you can find him playing ping pong or foosball with friends, enjoying the outdoors, or avidly competing in football.   • Joanne Lee

    Director General of Committees

    Joanne (she/her) is a sophomore from Seoul, South Korea majoring in Economics and Mathematics. Joanne has been involved in Model UN since high school, and is part of the competitive Model UN team at Yale. On campus, Joanne is also part of the Undergraduate Moot Court team and volunteers for the Yale Legal Aid Association. In her free time, she loves exploring museums, eating good food, and visiting the beach with her friends.   • Noah Killeen

    USG of Branding

    Noah is so excited to be serving as the USG of Branding and witnessing the talent of Model UN members from across the world! As a First-Year at Yale, he intends to study Political Science and History or Economics. Noah’s from Arizona, but as a military child, he’s called numerous places across the nation as “home.” Outside of serving this conference, he is also a delegate on Yale’s competitive Model UN team, a board member of Yale Votes, a staff writer for the Yale Undergraduate Law Journal, and an editor for the Politic. When he’s not in class or a club meeting, you can find him playing intramural pickleball, working out, hanging out with friends, off-roading in the AZ deserts, or watching Netflix.   • Poppy Stowell-Evans

    USG of Committees

    Poppy Stowell-Evans is a sophomore student and history major in Morse college! She is proudly an international student from Newport, Wales. As a member of Yale’s only competitive ModelUN team, she has a passion for MUN and believes that it acts as a space where people can grow and become the best, most confident version of themselves. Outside of her studies, Poppy is an ardent climate activist with a lot of her work focusing on the intersection between climate Justice and social justice. Because of this, she is excited to be the Chair of the UNFCCC where she is eager to see people coming together to discuss one of the most important issues in our modern world and consider exciting and innovative solutions!

  • Melanie Ulloa

    USG of Delegations

    Melanie is a freshman in Saybrook College from Miami, Florida majoring in Political Science and Russian. She has been doing Model UN since high school, and is on the competing Model UN team at Yale. Outside of her involvement with MUN, Melanie writes for the Yale Undergraduate Law Journal, works as a Starbucks barista, and helps students in Florida learn public speaking skills. For fun, Melanie loves to bake, go for runs, and indoor skydive. She is very excited to meet you all this upcoming Spring and chair the UNHCR committee!   • Shalina Effendi

    USG of Outreach

    Shalina (she/her) is a first-year from Houston, Texas majoring in Global Affairs. She is serving as the Under-Secretary-General of Outreach. Shalina is part of the competitive Model UN team at Yale and has a passion for all things international relations. On campus, Shalina is also part of the Muslim Student Association and volunteers at Sunrise Cafe. In her free time, she loves cooking (and eating!) good food, spending time with friends, and traveling. She is looking forward to meeting all the delegates at the first-ever iteration of YMUN Singapore and ensuring everyone has an incredible experience!   • Saj Agarwala

    USG of Business

    Saj is a first-year at Yale University. His residential college is Davenport, and he’s prospectively majoring in Economics. At YMUN Singapore 2024, he will be chairing the ECOFIN committee, and he will be working with students to dig into the details of sustainable development.

  • Ángela Pérez

    Director

    Ángela S. Pérez is a senior in Berkeley College, majoring in Political Science. She’s from Caguas, Puerto Rico (about 30 mins out of the capital San Juan) and is passionate about pursuing a career in journalism. Ángela was the Yale Daily News City Editor her sophomore year, founded her own publication called The Comma, and have contributed reporting to The New Journal. She’s reported from the United States, Chile, Mexico, and Cuba on a variety of subjects and is currently interning at NBC in New York City as she finishes her degree. For fun, she loves traveling, reading, writing, and photography. She’s also a part of Yale's traveling MUN team and has been competing since high school.   • Kaise Dualeh

    Director

    Kaise Dualeh is a senior in Jonathan Edwards College studying Global Affairs with a certificate in Human Rights from Yale Law School. He is currently completing his senior capstone project on the future of Dayton Accords international supervision in the Brčko district in Bosnia. Originally from Northern Virginia, Kaise and his family currently live in Nairobi, Kenya. Outside of class, Kaise works as a student aide for Jonathan Edwards College, competes on the university’s Model UN team, and volunteers as a volunteer tax preparer in New Haven.

  • John Klein

    Director

    John is a senior in Trumbull College majoring in History. He is currently writing his senior thesis on the creation of unifying national figures in Ireland during and immediately following the Troubles. John is from Fairfax, Virginia but has also spent time living in Connecticut, Washington, and Hawaii. Beyond the classroom, John competes on Yale's Model UN team, serves as a peer advisor for the History department, and plays rugby for the Yale Men's Rugby Team. For fun, he loves to read, spend time with friends, and go hiking.

  • Juan Gonzalez

    Juan Gonzalez

    Juan Carlos Gonzalez is an energetic first-year at Yale majoring in Economics and Mathematics. Juan Carlos currently lives in Seattle, Washington, but has spent a fair share of his life in Connecticut and Texas. He is currently completing a research project on the abolition movement and international relations of the Amistad affair. Juan Carlos is proudly a member of Yale's only competitive Model UN Team and Yale Chess Club. For fun, Juan Carlos loves to spend time with friends, watch YouTube, swim, and play chess!
