Award Information
YMUN Singapore will recognize exemplary delegates in each committee with committee awards. The four categories of awards are: Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, Honorable Mention and Best Position Paper. When designating awards, chairs are instructed to holistically evaluate all delegates for their contributions in committee.
There will be no “point system” or explicit evaluative criteria for these awards. Rather, YMUN Singapore would like to acknowledge delegates who demonstrate the mission of the conference to encourage debate and diplomacy, while also promoting personal and professional growth. Chairs will be looking out for delegates’ leadership and ability to enrich debate.
Delegates should contribute to creating a supportive and empowering atmosphere, while bringing a unique and forward-thinking perspective to the debate. We also seek to acknowledge delegates who demonstrate exceptional adaptability and growth throughout the conference.
Technology Policy
Phones are not allowed out in committee.
Delegates should bring their laptops on days 2 and 3 of the conference. Chairs will announce when laptops are allowed, which will begin sometime in the third committee session or onward. Laptops may only be used during unmoderated caucuses where work on working papers is taking place.
Delegates are only allowed to work on their working papers during committee. If a delegate is found to have worked on their working paper outside of committee sessions, the paper will be disqualified and the delegate will be ineligible for awards.
All use of AI is prohibited in position papers and working papers.
Delegates intended to prepare their opening speeches in advance must print out their speech. Delegates may print out any research and notes on research prepared in advance.
Conduct Policies
All committees are conducted in English. Therefore, as a matter of equity, all conversations in committees must be held in English. This includes conversations during unmoderated caucuses.
Bullying, harassment, and discrimination will not be tolerated at YMUNS.
Delegates may only prepare their opening speech. No other pre-writing is permitted, and delegates found to have engaged in pre-writing will be disqualified from eligibility from awards.
